16 March 2020 CAUTION: Ban on Free Movement of People!

Free movement of people is banned all over the Czech Republic from Monday 16^th March 0:00 to 24^th March 6:00 a.m.

Exceptions:

The prohibition does not apply to:

• Commuting to work and travelling necessary for performing business.
• Necessary journeys to see family or close relatives, to acquire necessary goods for living, and to health care facilities.
• Providing care for children or for animals.
• Use of necessary financial and postal services and purchase of fuel.
• Journeys to attend to urgent official matters.
• Going outside for a walk in parks and nature and going back home.
• Attending funerals.
• The restrictions do not apply to public transport, services to the public including supply and distribution, and veterinary care.

What remains open:

• Car repair shops with fewer than 30 people in the premises.
• Towing services.
• Spare part stores.
• Establishments in which you can collect goods and consignments.
• Gardeners’ shops, building supply stores, and hobby markets – but only for sole traders such as plumbers and carpenters, who need them for their trade. The public is prohibited from going shopping there.
• Cash registers intended for the sale of tickets.
• Spa facilities which provide care covered by public health insurance.
• Funeral services.
• Florists.
• Construction and project architect companies, geological services, land surveying.
• Medical supplies stores.
• Post offices – only at counters designed for safe indirect contact.
• Pharmacies, supermarkets, newsagents.
• City public transport.
• Authorities – on Monday and Wednesday for a maximum of three hours.
• Kindergartens or schools for a maximum of 15 children aged under 10 whose parents are employees of security forces, soldiers, doctors, or paramedics.

What is forbidden:

• Sales of accommodation services.
• Sales of electronics.
• Driving schools.
• Taxis except for food delivery taxis.
• Sale of tickets on trains. Passengers without travel documents will be asked to purchase them electronically. If it is not possible for them to do so, they will be transported without a travel document.
• Self-service laundries and dry cleaners.
• Presence at indoor and outdoor sports grounds.

 

Other:

• Parking zones restricting parking to local residents have been temporarily abolished.
• Soldiers and customs officers can perform tasks related to the coronavirus epidemic together with police officers.
