When travelling by any means of transport, it is the responsibility of each passenger to have a valid and properly validated ticket. Tickets can be purchased at vending machines (especially in metro stations), at newsagents or by SMS sent from Czech telephone numbers. If you travel in Prague regularly and often, it is worth buying an electronic ticket called\u00a0L\u00edta\u010dka.<\/p>\n\"1705030-litacka\"\n

Validity of tickets is checked on transport services and in metro stations by ticket inspectors. It is their duty to prove their identity and to show you their inspector\u2019s ID card. Your duty is then to present a valid ticket.<\/p>\n

Do not forget to validate your ticket in the yellow terminals located at the entrances to metro stations, in trams, buses and trains. A ticket that has not been stamped is not valid for travel. Passengers travelling without valid tickets face a fine of 800\/1,<\/strong>000 CZK. If you do not have a valid ticket, the inspector will ask you to present your passport (or other document) and give you a fine. You can pay the fine immediately or at a Prague Public Transit Company office.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fare Prices \u2013 Travelling in Prague<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A standard transfer ticket for an adult costs 32 CZK and is valid for 90 minutes. For shorter journeysunder 30 minutes you can use tickets for 24 CZK. A tourist ticket for 24 hours costs 110 CZK and for 3 days 310 CZK. If you travel around the city regularly then the best option is to get a L\u00edta\u010dka<\/a>\u00a0card and buy a coupon for a certain period of time.<\/p>\n

Children, Seniors and Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Children under 6 years of age may travel by public transport for free.<\/p>\n

Children between 10 to 15 years of age and seniors between 65 and 70 years of age can travel by public transport for free under predetermined conditions. Students under 26 and seniors over 60 may use one of the fare discounts available.<\/p>\n

Where to Buy a Ticket<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      1. 3. By sending an SMS from your mobile telephone. Write a message based on what type of ticket you want \u2013 DPT24, DPT32, DPT110 or DPT310<\/strong> \u2013 the number corresponds with the price of the ticket: travelling for 90 minutes costs 32 CZK, travelling for 30 minutes costs 24 CZK, a one-day ticket costs 110 CZK and a three-day ticket is 310 CZK. Send the text to 902 06. <\/strong>You will receive an SMS confirming that you have bought the ticket. The cost of sending the text message depends on your mobile operator and the tariff plan you have.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. 4. From bus drivers \u2013 with an extra charge. There is a single rate of 40 CZK for adults and 20 CZK for children and seniors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
